BASIC MANDATORY COURSE

Course Overview:

The STCW 2010 Basic Safety Training is a mandatory requirement for trainees aspiring to work on board ship. Hence the course delivery covers the scope, principles and fundamentals for working on board.  Irrespective of the present area of specialization, STCW mandatory training program will provide trainees with basic safety knowledge and instructions/information required to work on board. Participants will gain knowledge in personnel Survival Technique (PST) and standard of competence in survival at sea in the event of ship abandonment, fire and medical emergencies. Fire fighting and fire prevention. Take immediate actions upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency and compliance with personal safety social responsibilities on board ship.

 

Course Contents;

The Scope of the course is line with the set up objectives of the standards of IMO model courses and in accordance with STCW Reg. A-VI/1-1, A-VI/I-2, A-VI/1-3, A-VI/1-4.

  • Proficiency in Personnel Survival Techniques – Survival Suits, hypothermia, life-rafts, basics actions in emergency etc.
  • Elementary First Aid – Basic, immediate and emergency response to the most common shipboard injuries / emergencies, including CPR.
  • Proficiency in Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention – Types/classes of fires, prevention, hazard awareness, methods of fire extinguishing, structure of incidents response team, appropriate equipment, personal safety etc.
  • Personal safety and Social Responsibilities – Types of shipboard emergencies, alarms and signals, initial actions, personal protective equipment, roles and responsibilities, muster list, effects of pollution, pollution prevention, individual rights, drug and alcohol awareness etc.

  • Candidate must be above 18 years
  • Posses Valid Seafarer Medical
  • Valid Means of Identification
  • 2 Recent Photographs
